JR PASS
JAPAN RAIL PASS (JR PASS) is a travel ticket created specifically for travelers who come to Japan for tourism purposes. JR PASS applies to the following types of transport:
- RAILWAYS: all JR GROUP RAILWAYS trains - Shinkansen “bullet trains” (except Nozomi trains), express trains, high-speed and local electric train lines.
- Bus: JR bus local routes (JR Hokkaido Bus, JR Bus Tohoku, JR Bus Kanto, JR Tokai Bus, West Japan JR Bus, Chugoku JR Bus, JR Shikoku Bus, JR Kyushu Bus) and some JR mainline buses (Sapporo-Otaru; Morioka - Hirosaki; Tokyo-Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, Tsukuba Center; Nagoya-Kyoto, Osaka; Osaka-Tsuyama, Kasai Flower Center).
- Ferries: JR Miyajima ferries only. The pass does not apply to JR Hakata-Pusan ferries (Korea).
Who can use jr pass
Only those who come to Japan for tourism purposes can use the Japan RAIL PASS. In order to purchase such a pass, two mandatory requirements must be met:
- Your visa must be valid for between 15 days and 3 months.
- You must have open visitor status - “Temporary Visitor.”
If you have a different status when entering the country, then, unfortunately, you will not be able to change your voucher for JR PASS.
WHERE CAN I USE JR PASS?
Japan RAIL PASS is suitable for use on the buses, ferries and trains provided in the list below. In addition, there is no limit on the number of passages.
Railway connections: Shinkansen - ultra-high-speed trains (not including MIZUHO and NOZOMI), high-speed trains, local trains (with rare exceptions).
Note! Japan RAIL PASS is not suitable for use on monorail tracks (called Tokyo monorail).
Bus service: bus routes belonging to the JR association, namely JR Tohoku, JR Kanto, JR Chugoku, JR West Japan and others.
There are also separate JR buses that travel on the following roads - Osaka, Nagoya-Kyoto, Sapporo-Otaru and others.
Ferry: You can only use the pass on a ferry that goes to Miyajima Island, located in the city of Hiroshima.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
The validity of the pass is limited and can last a week, two or three.
Once you have been issued a voucher, you have exactly three months to exchange it for a Japan RAIL PASS. When exchanging, you can enter the day from which you will start using the travel card. You can choose absolutely any date within one month from the date of JR PASS registration. Once you buy your ticket, it will not be possible to change the start day.
